Notice all the coffee, soda pop, and candy (aptly provided through the means of discounted Halloween candy sales and Trick r Treaters who didn’t nab it all) on the table between my Nano-mates. Yesterday was just the beginning. 1-6-6-7 words or more everyday this month. The energy is high right now…but the snacks and goodies will be especially required about mid-way through the month.
GO Nano!
*I came across a really neat TIP today that I think will help me out quite a bit this month. Remember, I’ve never participated before so all of this is new to me. π I’m going to really adhere to this idea! What a great tip. Lani and Alastair from StoryWonk are going to be a great help to me this month, no doubt. Β http://storywonk.com/
Lani Diane Rich from the “Storywonk” website and podcast Tweeted this message:
(Writing) Sprints are a fantastic way of grinding out words. You can do anything for 20 minutes! And they add up! #SWNano #NaNoWriMo.
Dave Laudenslager from the SlasherCast podcast and I sat down to discuss Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt’s Summer teamup, The Edge of Tomorrow. It is based on the novel, “All You Need is Kill” (which I have experienced via Audible and I comment on in the episode) by Hiroshi Sakurazaka (narrated by: Mike Martindale –Β definitely worth checking out!).Β
GOOD TO KNOW DETAILS: All of the Side Effect episodes are split into non-spoiler and spoiler sections – so we will get into basic information first and then into more specific details in the second half of the show.
Some people call it “Ground Hogs Day” meets an alien invasion movie, but if you want to hear what we had to say about it- you should check it out for yourselves. We had a lot to say on the movie and we’d like to know what you guys thought. You can interact with us directly on Twitter at : @TheHumanIMDB (that’s Dave) or @DA_Chaney – or on the Slasher Cast Side Effect Twitter account at @SCSideEffect.
^ this is the Comic Book / Manga Graphic novel version – which is not the same as the actual novel. Strong elements from the book are captured though.
You can stream it on the link below or locate it in the SlasherCast podcast feed on iTunes or Stitcher (there are other podcast devices, but these two seem to be the most widely known).
You can also catch an interview that Tom Cruise does on the Nerdist podcast also, which was pretty great to listen to.
I was a guest on SlasherCast Side Effect again π , check it out and let us all know what you’ve played, are playing, and are looking forward to in 2013!
Here’s the link to check out the ‘cast.
You can also download it from iTunes to listen on your compatible mobile device.
Rebecca Snow asked me a bunch of questions about writing and posted them up on her blog…oh ok, I was interviewed for the first time. π Check it out. I love how it’s snowwwwing on her page. Pretty clever, Rebecca, pretty clever.
April ZAC Committee meeting at Y Bar in Pittsfield, MA
This looks like fun, right? It totally is!! A meeting of the zombie minds! What you see here is a planning session for the wonderful things that ZAC wants to bring to you this year! If you think you are interested in being involved, please contact one of the committee members. New elections take place this November and we’re always happy for new blood to help with suggestions, ideas, and volunteers!
It’s been a good month for new releases! “Read the End First” with my short story “Elemental Bonds” has been published. It is currently only available in trade-size paperback (e-copy information is currently unavailable).

It’s ok if you haven’t caught up- I have quite a few contributions out there. For my current list of books and anthologies, please visit: DA Chaney’s Amazon profile
An update to an earlier post – my dark horror, story “Ripper” (not for the faint of heart- it depicts some gruesome content) is now currently available for download and purchase at:
There is excellent news to report, for those who like to read stories that I’ve written.
My dark, horror, short story “Ripper” was accepted to be published by Sirens Call Publication’s April edition, eZine.
Not only am I excited to be a part of the edition, I’m also loving the fact that the figure on the cover-art has green eyes, just like I do. A complete chance happening but I do love the detail none-the-less π
I’ll have information on the release date and where to purchase the online magazine copy on a later update but for now…
Check out that cover- each month has the same beauty, with different eye colors (so far).
I’m excited to have received my author contributor’s copy of “Before Plan 9: Plans 1-8 from Outer Space” yesterday. Fans of Ed Wood’s old classic,”Plan 9 from Outer Space” will really get a kick out of this but I think the mash up of aliens playing around with (alternate) human history could be entertaining for anyone interested.
Look at this thing. It’s quite hefty. And look. My name is riiiighht there π Very exciting.
As you can well imagine, I’ve been a reader far longer than I’ve been a writer. When I wasn’t buying books, I was borrowing them from the library whenever possible. Stacks to a time, sometimes (I’ve always been a fast reader. Too bad I don’t write as quickly as I read).
I’m happy to report that today The Berkshire Athenaeum – accepted my book “Cryptic” for future public library distribution. It’s exciting news, because…once? I sat there reading the books by other people- and now, I have one of mine- with my own name on it- there for others to read.
If you go over by that way, don’t forget to ask for it and check it out of the library when it’s added to the rotation. If you’re no where near here, don’t forget – it’s also available to order from Barnes & Noble and Amazon, too π
